Overview & Highlights

A group tour to Peru, Bolivia and Chile which provides comfort as well as remote adventure. Includes Cusco, Machu Picchu and Lake Titicaca. Continue to La Paz in Bolivia and drive across the dazzling Uyuni salt flats to the Atacama Desert in Chile.

This adventurous yet comfortable journey through the Andean heartland explores a variety of mountain landscapes. After exploring the misty cloud forests surrounding Machu Picchu, and crossing sapphire-hued Lake Titicaca, traverse the sparkling salt flats of Uyuni before descending to the arid rocks of Atacama - the driest desert in the world.

Throughout, a rich indigenous culture is manifest in intricate and brightly coloured costumes and markets bursting with produce and crafts. The imposing ancient ruins bear testament to the region's complex and tumultuous history. The desolate high-altitude desert of south-western Bolivia is beautiful and utterly remote, with rough roads and basic infrastructure (even the hotels are constructed from salt!). An adventurous spirit is necessary to get the most from this memorable trip.

What our clients say

  • "Overall, the party gelled very well, the tour leader was a great guide and travelling companion we saw some wonderful sights - Machu Picchu and the other Inca sites especially. The geography of the Andes, the Salt Flats, the desert and moon valleys were stunning”

    JT, Ashford
  • "Getting to Machu Picchu after a 50 year  dream was amazing. Although the whole of Bolivia was magical stunning scenery excellent guides and a surrealistic landscape."

    MF, Warwick
  • Most memorable experience(s): “The Salt Flats of Bolivia and the Altiplano area for stunning scenery. Machu Picchu for the history of the Inca civilisation - very interesting and educational”

    WW, Gwynedd
  • Most memorable experience? "There were too many things but Bolivia in general and the Salt Plains in particular were amazing plus the flamingos. I also loved the night on Sun island. I never expected it to be so beautiful."

    JS, Leeds
  • "Travelling across the high desert surrounded by snow topped peaks with herds of wild LLama running away from us. Then vivid pink / blue lakes appeared with flamingo feeding. This experience was the best but the salt flats are dramatic and facinating."

    PC, Broughton-in-Furness
  • "Nigh on impossible to pick out just one memory but the vastness and emptiness of the salt flats, Machu Picchu in the mist, rain and finally sun, being photo bombed by a llama, sunset over the Attacama, causing a desert traffic jam by breaking down."
