Overview & Highlights

Discover Ecuador’s most breathtaking natural scenery and cultural wonders on this covid-conscious Trailblazer holiday. Based just outside the capital, Quito, you’ll be able to discover the region’s stunning natural beauty from the snow-capped peaks of Cotopaxi volcano to the verdant cloud forest with its richly unique flora and fauna.

You’ll have the chance to uncover local traditions by experiencing the diverse Andean cultures where ancient Inca, Spanish and indigenous communities come together in Quito and nearby Otavalo.

No trip to Ecuador is complete without visiting one of the world’s most iconic destinations, the Galapagos Islands, where you will spend a week on board an intimate cruise allowing you to discover what makes the archipelago so unique.

Our Trailblazer Ecuador holiday stays in fewer locations, each carefully selected to allow visits to the country’s highlights whilst avoiding the crowds. The trip also takes into account local covid policies and testing requirements, so you immerse yourself in Ecuador’s magnificent cultures and landscapes, whilst always staying within your comfort zone.

What our clients say

  • Please describe the most memorable experience/aspect of your trip? "The first time a sea lion came up to have a good look at me when I was snorkeling in the Galapagos and played around me with such grace and freedom."

    LH, Hong Kong
  • Group tour was all memorable - for all the right reasons! A trip with JLA is a trip with the local experts. They respond quickly to challenges such as FCO advice not to visit an area and know the local people who can make the holiday really memorable. One other comment about Colombia - the people we encountered, of all ages, in the streets, shops, hotels etc were friendly, welcoming and the most polite I have met anywhere in the world!

    HR, Brentford
  • I travelled with a great group of people, a fantastic Tour Leader and amazing Driver. One of my best JLA experiences.

    JH, Woking
  • Enjoyed the trip to the equator while in Quito. Loved Alausi, very interesting place, people. Cuenca was lovely, very easy to get around, felt safe, staff at hotel very helpful, happy hour cocktails 2 for 1 delicious! Las Cajas national park very interesting. The Galapagos week was fantastic! Staff really professional, islands and wildlife more than I imagined, learnt to snorkel, scenery fantastic. The group were also really nice, and as a single traveller this made my holiday really special. And on the whole the weather was very sunny and warm. Enjoyed the picnics we had during our trips in the Andes, which the tour leader arranged, especially the exotic fruits which she advised us to try.

    JC, Bury
  • The ubiquitous music and dance of Cuba and the infectious joie de vivre of its truly multicultural people who seem to live life to the full with the little they have. Cuba is a fascinating country and this comprehensive trip showed us not only its spectacular variety of scenery and its rich history but gave an insight into the resourcefulness of its people and how they cope in their struggle for survival and freedom. I'm sure we only scratched at the surface but I'm curious to learn more (and I must learn to speak more Spanish).

    DC, London
  • Our first trip to S. America was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Everything was very well organised and we couldn't have had a better group leader than tour leader. The local guides were very knowledgable and enthusiastic to share their country. When we booked this holiday we thought it would be our only trip to S. America, primarily to see Machu Picchu but now hearing the tour leader talk about other tours she has run we are eager to see more of the continent with JLA.
