Overview & Highlights

Fly to the Antarctic Peninsula, avoiding turbulent Drake Passage and saving time for your comfortable expedition ship to the Antarctic Peninsula. Also visits Torres del Paine in Chile.

Skip the stomach-lurching waves by flying from southern Patagonia to join cruise ship Ocean Nova in the most accessible region of the continent around the Antarctic Peninsula. Before this take advantage of your positioning in Chile’s far south spending a few days in Torres del Paine National Park, replete with icy spires, aquamarine lakes and wilderness wildlife.

The Antarctic peninsula is a slim finger of land and offshore islands reaching out from the main continental mass towards southern Argentina. In addition to prolific wildlife and extraordinary ice-carved landscapes there you will see evidence of the human impact – derelict whaling stations, and research outposts. This expedition provides an in-depth experience of the snow-drenched mountains and icebergs of these more accessible fringes of the White Continent. The cliffs and bays are brought to life by the chattering and wheeling of birdlife, sea-lions and penguins.

And round everything off with a couple of days at a sunny vineyard outside Santiago.

What our clients say

  • Our most memorable moments were the views in Rio, the Iguassu Falls, the initial impressions of La Paz, Copacabana and Puno (especially the hotel in Puno with its views of the Lake), the Andean Explorer and Sacred Valley train journeys and the magnificence of the Andes and Macchu Picchu.

  • All the walks are memorable for me. I also enjoyed the warm weather, friendly smiling Colombian people (contrary to the negative and scare mongering stories about Colombia I heard in UK).

  • A well thought out tour with a good balance of culture, scenery and larger towns. The tour leader was excellent and the local guides were friendly and knowledgeable with great enthusiasm for their subjects. Good value for money and would have no problem with recommending JLA and will almost certainly use the company again.

  • Our first trip to S. America was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Everything was very well organised and we couldn't have had a better group leader than tour leader. The local guides were very knowledgable and enthusiastic to share their country. When we booked this holiday we thought it would be our only trip to S. America, primarily to see Machu Picchu but now hearing the tour leader talk about other tours she has run we are eager to see more of the continent with JLA.

  • Iguazu Falls were out of this world. Machu Picchu was very special and the desert was amazing.
