Sleek, brand new and state-of-the-art ship specialising in Polar air-cruises.

Magellan Explorer is a sleek new expedition vessel, custom-built for Antarctic cruises, which began sailing in late 2019. She was conceived with an uncluttered contemporary design, featuring a striking pewter exterior and smart Scandinavian-style simplicity inside. She accommodates up to 100 guests (73 on air cruises - 76 from 2024/25 season) across seven categories of cabin, including dedicated singles - and even those have a king-sized bed. The décor is cool and fresh, with a colour scheme of white, silver and blond in harmony with the tones of the White Continent enhancing to the feeling of space.

The ship has a glass-enclosed observation lounge and presentation room with state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment, a spacious and stylish dining room, a well-stocked bar, library, a meeting room, gym, sauna and a medical clinic. The number and variety of these facilities is favourable compared to many other Antarctic vessels. The forward-facing observation deck leads to the bow of the ship and offers you an excellent vantage point from which to observe marine wildlife.

What our clients say

  • Antarctica “Best holiday we have ever had.”

    MR, West Malling
  • This was a trip of a lifetime. The scale of the natural beauty of Antarctica is overwhelming.  The icebergs, penguins ,mountains and sunshine which reflected it all in the clear water was breathtaking.  I feel privileged to have been able to experience it thank you.

    AW, Stanmore
  • Most memorable experience: "A hard question to answer, but probably being able to walk on the continent, and not just strolling along the shore line, but fairly serious walking on snow and ice up onto the local ridges."

    HW, New Romney
  • Highlights: “Setting foot on Antarctica and seeing the wildlife in its natural habitat.  The first part had always been an ambition of mine”

    SM, Dennie
  • The whole experience of sailing across Antarctica was amazing, but being able to visit Scott's at Cape Evans was probably the pinnacle of the trip.

    JW, Bedford
  • Highlights were South Georgia – amazing king penguin colony, bathing in thermal pool and cooling off in Whalers Bay on deception island, the open air party as we left Paradise Bay, walking f the frozen Weddell sea
