Galapagos Islands Bartolome (Bartholomew)

  • Galápagos Islands

A walk to the summit of this small island reveals a pitted moonscape; one of the most photographed panoramas in the archipelago. There are views of the island's twisted lava formations and the sea-sculpted Pinnacle Rock, smothered with Galápagos penguins and marine turtles.

Overview

This tiny island, an extinct volcano, has some of the most beautiful landscapes of red, orange, green, and black volcanic formations which, along with other islands, you can view from its easily-climbed cone.  The twin bays are separated by a narrow strip of land. Pinnacle Rock, is its most distinctive landmark, is an excellent place to swim and snorkel with penguins, turtles and white-ripped reef sharks.
