Overview & Highlights

This comprehensive holiday shows off the variety of landscapes from the Atacama desert to Patagonia, via sunny vineyards and the volcano-dotted lake district. Private travel and top quality hotels throughout.

Transposed to Europe, Chile would stretch from Norway to Tunisia. It extends some 4,000 kilometres, down a ribbon of land that clings to the western flank of the Andes, with a staggering variety of landscape, vegetation and climate. This comprehensive tour will take you from the lunar landscape of the Atacama Desert in the north, through the patchwork vineyards that surround the cosmopolitan capital, Santiago, and the forested volcanoes of the lake district to the Straits of Magellan, where stormy waters lash the broad, windswept landscapes and snow-capped peaks of Patagonia.

What our clients say

  • This really is Extremes of Chile going from desert conditions to frozen  mountains. He prepared for some tiring travelling - and some stupendous scenery.

    DR, Newcastle-upon-Tyne
  • The Journey Latin America experience greatly enhanced my enjoyment and understanding of the culture and customs and Chile.

    JT, York
  • For me, it was the Atacama desert. It is the driest desert in the world, and we had thunder storms!! But it left snow on the volcanos and fluffy clouds…

    MB, Chelmsford
  • It was a wonderful adventure which we enjoyed with a very nice group, all of us led by an excellent guide.

    WD, Greenford
  • Most of the vary varied scenery was spectacular, and the pace of the trip and exercise involved was just right.

    JH, Sevenoaks
  • Chile is an amazing country - but much bigger and more diverse than I expected.  Penguin gives an excellent dip into the Chilean experience - but leaves you wanting more.
