Overview & Highlights

Stay in the top-of-the-range first class Belmond properties to visit Brazil’s top two highlights: Rio de Janeiro and the Iguazú Falls. Continue along the coast to the stylish little beach resort Buzios.

This luxurious taste of Brazil starts Rio, a city of fun-loving people, music on every street corner and football on every beach - all with a glorious mountain backdrop. We've selected some of Brazil's finest hotels, with near perfect locations. Belmond Copacabana Palace (formerly known as Orient Express), faces the blue green rollers of the Atlantic Ocean breaking onto the golden sands of Copacabana, the heart of this beach-loving city.

At Iguazú Falls, you will step out of your room at Belmond Hotel Das Cataratas to the thunderous roar of water crashing over lofty granite cliffs fringed by tropical rainforest. It's the only property right o n the edge of the falls themselves: you can avoid the crowds in the early morning and evening.. Finally at the upmarket, popular beach retreat of Búzios, unwind at a top quality boutique property overlooking the ocean.

What our clients say

  • Journey Latin America provided us with what we wanted and it seemed to be a sentiment shared by the group as several of us had looked at other organisations and had found them unsatisfactory.

  • It was a fantiastic holiday, visiting really varied and fascinating locations in an amazing country, and well paced too.  One of the reasons I was able to go on the Gaucho tour was that I could fit it into a two weeks holiday from work, but a lot of your tours are a bit too long for that.

  • Riding a horse back up the track at Karajia when it started to rain and the frogs started to sing! Never heard anything like it. Travelling through spectacular country & seeing the local people. The mummies at the museum at Leymebamba.
I'm very much a novice when it comes to traveling and I love history & culture. I chose this trip with that in mind. As someone who is not an experienced traveller, some of the journeys are long but they are always worth it. Seeing these wonderful sites with often very few people about is great. This is a beautiful country and this is a wonderful trip that I would highly recommend to anyone with a love of history and a desire to learn more.

  • Chile is an amazing country - but much bigger and more diverse than I expected.  Penguin gives an excellent dip into the Chilean experience - but leaves you wanting more.

  • It was our first experience of small group travel, and although on balance we prefer independant travel, to cover as many countries as we did, we couldn t have done it on our own!

  • The overall Pato Andino experience was truly fantastic, the sheer number of breath taking sights to marvel at was incredible. Too many [memorable moments] to list but if I had to name one then seeing Laguna Blanca as it was the first breath taking sight of the trip for me and it wasn't just the altitude.
