Overview & Highlights

This exhilarating action-packed holiday in Belize offers no-holds-barred activities  for seekers of soft adventure and more challenging experiences alike - along with time to lie back and relax.

Belize is fast becoming THE place to go for outdoor adventures in an exotic setting. Ever since independence, the availability of exciting new outdoor activities has mushroomed alongside the opening of jungle and coastal lodges of all standards – so, in this tiny country, the choice for lovers of nature and outdoor challenges is huge.

We're thrilled to introduce a holiday showcasing four of our favourite properties  - a lodge at the foot of the Mayan mountain range, a rainforest resort, a coastal glamping site and a beachfront hotel - which between them offer hiking and rappelling, cycling, kayaking, stand-up paddling and snorkelling, as well as cultural experiences in the surrounding region.  But you don’t have to do it all, by any means; you can choose softer, relaxing options on site such as bird watching, manatee spotting of even just sunbathing.  The combination of the locations, the friendly and professionally-run properties and the range of activities brings together the elements for a really fun and exhilarating outdoor holiday.

  • This was our third trip with JLA - all of them excellent. Alcion is a fantastic tour - to experience 6 countries in 3 weeks was something we could never do on our own. Our guide was outstanding, the itinerary was superb - the whole trip was something we will always remember.

  • The day we visiting the Frida Kahlo and Trotsky museums and also the canal. As well as all the wonderful pyramids and the Copper Canyon extension were among my highlights. We were very impressed with our first experience of travelling with JLA. We have been to several Central and South American countries before and had underestimated the impact that Mexico would have on us. It had such a variety of experiences to offer, the colour, the music, the many different and dramatic archeological sites and political history. The ethnic mix added to the diversity and the people were all a delight to meet. JLA allowed us to experience this in its selection of places, accommodation, excursions and especially the tour leader.

  • The entire trip was very varied. Travelling through the lake lands of Bolivia was great in 4x4s. The clarity of the skies in San Pedro Chile and time to relax. Cusco and the Inca sites at Ollyantytambo, Pisco and Machu Picchu. The Drive from Hydro-Elektrica to Cusco along mountain tracks in a mini bus with sheer drops of several hundred metres to the valley. The Martin Chambi Photo exhibition in Cusco. Lima was surprisingly attractive...but there were many many aspects that were great and I could write pages.

  • Learned a lot about prehispanic civilizations in Mesoamerica and about the Mexican people. Was very lucky to travel with a small group of curious, witty and interesting people. And it's hard to imagine a better tour guide for this trip.

  • Boat ride through the canyon (just what we needed to blow the cobwebs away after an early start and a long journey). Palenque took my breath away - literally, I climbed to the top of the pyramid! The trip to the two indigenous villages was extremely fascinating.
