The self-proclaimed ‘land of sunshine and wine’ is studded with lush vineyards and overlooked by the snow-capped Andes.

Overview

The province of Mendoza’s claim to be “the land of sunshine and wine” isn’t far off the mark. Lying in the rain-shadow of the ever visible snow-capped Andes, the landscape is studded with vineyards, and some of the country’s best wines are produced here. The pleasant city of lakeside Mendoza retains some 19th century character and is full of fine open spaces with a shady canopy of sycamores. The city is a good base for adventure activities; wine lovers might choose to stay at one of the wineries which welcome visitors in the sparkling air of the countryside close by.
