Overview & Highlights
Hike for a few days in Torres del Paine National Park, one of the best wilderness walking areas in Chile, and climb to the summit of Osorno, a snow-draped volcano dominating the lake district.
This is a walking holiday, and includes one of Chile’s iconic multi-days treks, known as the W-Trek, and an ascent of its most photogenic volcano, Osorno. A good level of fitness is needed since you’ll be walking for long periods and over tricky, sometimes steep, terrain. That said, there is nothing overly “technical”, although you will be wearing crampons and using other climbing equipment (all provided) on the climb above the snow line on Osorno. In the southern summer – November to March – you have a good chance of catching some clear, sunny days, promising a magical experience.
Chile, with its long Pacific coastline extending from the northern desert through the lush pastures of the volcano-studded lake district to the glaciers of Patagonia, is one of Latin America’s most rewarding countries for outdoor adventures. There’s a good infrastructure to cater for the demand. Chileans offer a range of well supported and guided activities including hikes, volcano climbing, river rafting, horse riding and mountain biking. What Chile perhaps lacks in visible historical culture it makes up for with its exquisite natural landscapes.

What our clients say
"Cuba exceeded my expectations : it is beautiful architecturally and naturally, fascinating historically, politically and economically and so full of life. Thanks to JLA for letting me get under the skin of Cuba just a little."HF, London
This is our 3rd trip with JLA and we look forward to our 4th. The best place to start planning holiday in South America, incredible wealth of knowledge and experience.LG, Richmond
The tour leader could not have been more courteous, he did more than was expected of him and found us some very good restaurants. Our most memorable moments were staying in the yurt in the Patagonia, eating at local restaurants recommended by the tour leader and travelling from Bariloche across the lakes. We loved this trip and it was organised very well.MG, Marlow
There are several experiences we enjoyed on this trip. The lguacu Falls are amazing, couldn't stop taking photos. In the Pantanal the variety of birds was superb and we were lucky enough to see an ocelot. We greatly enjoyed our holiday, we were a small group of two couples so were pleased that the trip still went ahead with these low numbers.JT, Hemel Hampstead
The holiday was really terrific - one to be remembered for ever. It really met all our hopes, and offered even more than anticipated - in particular, with all the wildlife that we saw. (And much better weather than expected!) Many thanks to JLA, our 3 lovely fellow travellers, and to tour leader in particular.NB, Keswick
Surpassed expectation. The excellent itinerary was enhanced by the tour leaders excellent knowledge and company.PM, Corsham
