On a private reserve on the Placencia peninsula, lovely Naia Resort and Spa has beachfront houses and treetop villas in a beautiful Caribbean setting.

Overlooking the ocean and backed by lush landscapes, the plush beach houses extend along nearly a mile of beachfront. With up to 4 spacious bedrooms, they can be a great fit for families. They also offer walk-in closets, custom-made furnishings and generous living space, along with verandas, bathrooms with deep soaking tubs and outdoor showers. Some also have private pools.

At the heart of the resort, Naia Spa is spread over tiny islands in an enchanting freshwater lagoon, offering a range of treatments as well as a fitness centre, yoga studio, salt-water pool, and a waterside café. The waterfront restaurant and casual poolside bar serve Belizean cuisine with an emphasis on seafood.

20 minutes’ away by car, Placencia is a Caribbean community which over the years has grown into a popular resort without losing the low-key charm which drew travellers here a generation ago. The area is a springboard for snorkelling trips on Belize’s barrier reef and a variety of other activities, such as paddleboarding, river tubing, waterfall hikes and caving.
