Hotel Casa Vieja
Well-run hotel in a historic house dotted with antiques and knick-knacks in the centre of Chachapoyas.
The well-run Hotel Casa Vieja, dotted with antiques and knick-knacks, occupies a converted colonial townhouse in the heart of Chachapoyas. It has preserved the architecture and constructive scheme, arranged on two floors in the traditional galleried style of the area, with all of them giving onto a walkway around a pleasant central courtyard spilling over with flowering foliage.
Guestrooms are fairly basic but immaculately clean, and rather more comfortable than you might perhaps expect given the remote and rustic location. On the ground floor is a cosy sitting room where a crackling open fire wards off the chill on cold nights.

After graduating with a degree in Anthropology and History and having been fascinated by Latin America since childhood by the book featuring photos of Nazca, Juliet first visited the region in 2003. Since then, Juliet has visited the majority of countries in Latin America but has particularly extensive experience with Peru, a country she loves for many reasons but not least, its incredible archaeological richness and delicious food!
