Situated just outside the La Amistad National Park, Finca Lérida is an historic hotel and coffee estate on the slopes of Barú volcano, 20 minutes from the town of Boquete.

Above Finca Lérida, the land rises steeply to their privately-owned cloud forest reserve. At over 2,250m above sea level this is a magical world of orchids, bromeliads and wild avocados, where three-wattled bellbirds, black-faced solitaires, volcano hummingbirds, long-tailed silky-flycatchers and prong-billed barbets also thrive. The forest is also home to the vivid resplendent quetzal. It’s a magnet for birders but you don’t have to be an avid twitcher to appreciate the exquisite beauty here: Finca Lérida is also lovely base to relax in the flower-filled gardens, wander the woodland trails and wake up to the aroma of locally produced coffee.

Finca Lérida’s quaint guest rooms are situated in rustic one-storey wings: they are spacious, most with private porch overlooking the gardens. Traditional home-cooked meals are served in the modern, cheerful restaurant or on the al fresco terrace. Panama’s very first coffee exports originated from Finca Lerida in 1929. Tasting sessions are available and the café serves the estate's own coffee and cakes.

What our clients say

  • We enjoyed all locations which were very diverse and equally memorable.

  • We didn't realise the partial canal transit would be in such a big boat with loads of other tourists - not a problem, but would have been good for this…

    NF, Tunbridge Wells Apr 2013
  • Panama was far more interesting than what we thought it would be, particularly the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Bio Diversity Museum.

    CY, Heathfield Jan 2020
  • "Bocas del Toro was great fun and frivolous and a great journey there by boat."

    GS, Bushey Jun 2013
  • Because of my interest in shipping, the Panama Canal partial transit was fascinating.

    JB Apr 2012
  • "Most memorable was watching mother and baby two-toed sloths from bedroom window at Canopy Tower. Early morning on the roof of Canopy Tower listening to howler monkeys as the sun…
