Go snorkelling in a Panamanian marine reserve

Snorkelling in the aquamarine seas of Bocas del Toro reveals a vibrant underwater world populated by abundant marine life. Swimming over an ocean floor scattered with bright orange starfish, you can observe shoals of tropical fish as they dart between coral reefs, or even watch a sea turtle glide along beside you.

The marine reserve of Bastimientos is one of the few in Latin America to protect beach, reef and mangrove areas, so there are a surprising variety of aquatic habitats to discover. After exploring the reefs you can snorkel along channels lined with mangroves, whose sprawling root systems provide shelter for many species as they reproduce and nurture their young.
