Unique, quirky and characterful hotel in a prime location within Puebla's historic centre. Bright colours and religious antiquities set the tone.

The quirky one-of-a-kind Meson Sacristia de la Compania is located in the heart of historic Puebla, just two blocks from the main square. Its colonial façade is painted vivid purple, nevertheless fitting into the bright palette of the colonial street on which it lies, and bold use of colour is employed throughout.

As soon as you enter, you are transported back to an earlier era in Mexican history. The building is decorated with typical Talavera ceramics and tiles, and there are antiques simply all over the place.

There are just eight en suite rooms, each different but united by a Catholic theme that harks back to the religious atmosphere of the 19th century. Rooms are comfortable and full of colonial character, with original features and antique furniture; some have small balconies.

There is a well-loved courtyard restaurant serving regional poblano cuisine, which regularly hosts live music. There is also a cosy bar (el Confesionario - 'the Confessional') and an antique gallery.

  • A really fun and intriguing experience in a very quirky boutique hotel. Food was excellent, staff wonderful, fellow guests interesting. We had one of our best meals here at a very reasonable price.
