The Posada de Don Rodrigo in Panajachel on the shores of Lake Atitlan is an attractive mid-range hotel covered in tropical plants, with subtle hints of indigenous style and a scenic yet convenient location.

The attractive colonial-style Posada de Don Rodrigo Panajachel is located in the centre of Panajachel on the shores of Lake Atitlán.

The décor is subtly Guatemalan with discreet features from the indigenous culture, rich in vivid textiles, carvings and leatherwork.

Hammocks are hung from the colonnades of a porch that runs alongside the buildings, festooned with verdant foliage, providing an ideal place to read or relax.

The porch faces a large, neat garden with extensive lawns and a swimming pool. There’s also a good restaurant (often with live music) and unobstructed views of the lake from the upper terrace, where breakfast is served.

What our clients say

  • Location excellent. Large bare room. Limited choice in restaurant but alternatives close at hand. Lake view and at doors very pleasant.

  • "Wow! We could not believe the room we stayed in, with its huge entrance door and gallery. Then there were the courtyards and its perfect location - great! Great room,…
