Cruise from Patagonia to the Falklands

Emperor Penguins Falkland Islands

A week-long wildlife cruise allows you to discover the Falkland Islands in depth.

The Falkland Islands are marooned among the wind-tossed waves of the South Atlantic You’ll appreciate how remote they are on a small ship expedition cruise from Patagonia, as it takes a couple of days for the new, super-comfortable Magellan Explorer to make the ocean journey – an adventurous experience in itself, where you are accompanied by albatrosses and storm petrels wheeling above, and dolphins streaming below.

This is a wildlife expedition, not just a cruise: you’ll be entertained by at least a dozen polar experts, narrating the history of exploration and the lives of the marine and avian creatures you will see in massive abundance. On shore you’ll have a thrilling spectacle: rockhopper penguins bounce up the cliffs, regal king penguins stride chalk-white beaches and sea-lions play in the surf of the sapphire ocean while black-browed albatrosses shriek above.

The wilderness landscapes of the sheep-dotted islands is visually stunning; while the outpost of British Empire at Port Stanley, with its tough, weathered population, brick church  and red phone boxes, recalls the UK of the 1950s and 60s – a nostalgic trip for many British visitors.
