Serene high class rural hotel beneath a towering volcano, in the style of a cosy and traditional hacienda.

Built in the style of a traditional colonial hacienda, the serene rural Hacienda Abraspungo consists of several whitewashed, single-storey buildings scattered across neat lawns and gardens. The refurbished guestrooms are large, with beamed ceilings, and designed to convey a sense of history along with contemporary comforts and mod cons. But they still feel cosy, with open fires or heaters to keep away the highland chill. The bathrooms are also spacious with separate bathtub and shower. The well regarded restaurant and the social areas abound with quirky adornments such as collections of masks, wheels, musical instruments and other colonial and pre-Columbian- inspired paraphernalia. The hotel is a short drive away from Riobamba station, huddled in the folds of snow-capped Andean sierras.
