A luxurious lodge in north-west Costa Rica, offering spectacular views and a blend of relaxation and soft adventure.

Perched on a mountainside within a private reserve in north-west Costa Rica, Origins offers a luxurious escape for relaxation and soft adventure amid rivers, forests, and soothing pastures near Bijagua de Upala.

Wake to the call of howler monkeys, explore the wildlife-rich jungle, then unwind in a hot tub on your private terrace overlooking the valley. Lounge in the mineral-fed infinity pool, indulge in the spa, and practise yoga and meditation before savouring dishes crafted from the organic garden. The road to the lodge is very rugged – but the rewards are more than worth the journey.

A handful of standalone Luxury Lodges cling to the hillside, their living roofs blending seamlessly with the landscape. Each features handcrafted canopy beds, hardwood furnishings, and spacious bathrooms with indoor and outdoor rainfall showers. Panoramic terraces offer sweeping views – stretching as far as Lake Nicaragua on a clear day – with binoculars provided for wildlife spotting.

At dinner, enjoy French-inspired cuisine paired with fine wines from the lodge’s cellar. Whether dining al fresco or relaxing in your lodge, nature is ever-present. The communal area boasts a living roof of mosses and flowers, while the spa offers plant-based treatments – from volcanic stone massages to herbal body wraps and scrubs.

Guests on a full-board basis enjoy complimentary activities such as waterfall hikes, horse riding, yoga, birdwatching, and night walks. For added adventure, the lodge can arrange river tubing, white-water rafting, and chocolate tours.
