A characterful restored hacienda very close to Salento and the Cocora Valley.

Located midway between the colourful, lively Andean town of Salento and the giant wax palm trees of the Cocora Valley, Sazagua Cocora is an ideal hub for exploring the southern part of Colombia’s Coffee Region, with its walking trails, wax palm forests, coffee fincas and picturesque towns. Armenia airport and Pereira airport are both a one-hour drive away.

A restored hacienda built more than 150 years ago, Sazagua Cocora enjoys a tranquil setting surrounded by beautiful gardens, birdsong, and endless rolling hills. With only 10 rooms, each one tastefully furnished with handloom bedspreads and patterned rugs, set against the ochre walls and green window and door frames, the property feels intimate and characterful. The two Premium Suites also feature their own private ‘ofuro’, a Japanese bath heated by firewood.

There’s an onsite restaurant, but the hotel can easily arrange a taxi or a Willys jeep to take you into Salento (unfortunately, it’s not quite walkable) where you’ll find a bounty of restaurants, cafés, and bars.

The hacienda spans 100 acres, with trails leading to waterfalls and opportunities for mule riding and birdwatching without even leaving the grounds. Arepa tastings, mixology classes, and visits to local coffee fincas can also be organised.
