Homely budget hotel with an alpine aesthetic and a welcoming open plan lounge and dining room.

A good budget choice, Hotel Malalhue is just outside Pucón. In keeping with its alpine design, interiors are rather chintzy but cosy and welcoming, with steep pitched ceilings and wooden walls.

You'll find guest rooms on the small side, but we particularly like the open-plan layout of the hotel's lounge, bar and dining room. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner if you don't fancy the 2km trip into town.

What our clients say

  • The whole experience of Atacama and Torres del Paine was amazing. In between Puerto Varas provided a welcome and relaxing contrast. The introductory tours of Santiago and Valparaiso worked very well and the guides were great... but experience tame compared to the other three destinations! Matetic was a fun last day/night.

  • Most Memorable Moment?: So many overall but the glaciers, Torres, the cruise and Orcas/penguins.

    AB, Fordingbridge
  • Highlights:- Chile was just fantastic, and we thoroughly enjoyed our experiences in both Patagonia and Atacama. Really quite memorable.

    MR
  • Highlights: "Watching the Milky Way in Elquis Valley."

    MA, Lancaster
  • We have had two of the most memorable weeks in one of the world’s most varied geographical environments and the friendly Chilean people. Thank you JLA.

    AK, Stoke Newington
  • Highlight?: Difficult to separate a sunny, windless clear day at Torres del Paine ( plus several others nearly as good).  And deep snow in the Altiplano round Miscanti lakes. So good even the drivers were taking photos.      Both quite excellent.
