Relaxed boutique beach hotel with a handful of rooms, set amidst lush grounds overlooking the ocean on the Brazilian island of Ilha Grande.

This secluded guesthouse is a longstanding favourite overlooking the ocean. A 15-minute walk along a well-marked forest trail from the laid-back little beachfront town of Abraão, Casa da Ilha has attractive, fully-equipped bedrooms, each with wooden floors and a balcony to while away lazy moments in a hammock.

Begin each day with a good Brazilian breakfast, while snacks are available at lunchtime. For your evening meal, you’ll need to stroll into the village. The small sandy cove of Praia Biquinho is just a stone’s throw away and the long, sandy Abrozinhos beach is a few minutes’ walk.

The hotel has lush grounds climbing up the hillside behind the buildings, where you can wander in tropical woodland. After exploring, relax in the hotel’s Japanese-style wooden hot tub or have a massage. The hotel can organise excursions and activities, including hiking, sailing, scuba diving, boat trips and kayaking.
