A welcoming lodge in a region that few tourists reach. Home cooking, warm service and detached thatched cabins make this an excellent family destination.

In a secluded area of southern Belize, The Lodge at Big Falls provides the opportunity for you to visit an area of the country that few get to enjoy. The home cooking and obliging service provided by the friendly owners enhance the personalised atmosphere. There are 8 detached, thatched cabins, scattered amongst picturesque gardens.

Excursions on offer include kayaking on the river that flows through the cultivated grounds of the lodge, which gives way to thicker, low-lying jungle upstream. On land, nature trails reveal a profusion of bird life. Bicycle hire is also available.

What our clients say

  • Local flights were amazing enabling us to really see and appreciate the country....The diversity of the local cultures and cuisine were a wonderful surprise and experience.

    CT, Hortley
  • We liked Guatemala and were particularly impressed with Belize (likely to go back there)”

    NW, Wells
  • We went mainly for the scuba diving in Belize which didn't fail to impress - truly world class.

    AA, Market
  • We saw a massive variety of animals, insects and fish between the rainforest and the reef and exploring these environments with knowledgeable guides was a pleasure. Whether it was hummingbirds buzzing overhead at dinner, a boa constrictor crossing the road, a lucky glimpse of a majestic jaguar or a green sea turtle grazing on the reef it was difficult to pick a highlight moment!

    RW, Usk
  • We knew nothing about Guatemala and Belize before our trip and had not visited Central America.  We relied on JLA understanding our interests and the resulting recommendations proved very successful.

    NW, Wells
  • Local flights were amazing enabling us to really see and appreciate the country.  In three weeks we only met 3 other British couples as most travellers appeared to be from North America, but Belize was well worth the visit and 2012 is the end of the current Maya calendar.  The diversity of the local cultures and cuisine were a wonderful surprise and experience.
