Small and welcoming lodge on the serene shores of a lagoon in the Iberá marshes, ideal for wildlife lovers.

The small and welcoming Posada Aguape is located on the wildlife-rich shores of a tranquil lagoon in a relatively undiscovered area of Argentina, some 500km from Iguazú Falls (with which it is often combined). The nearest airport is two hours away at Posadas.

In harmony with the rural serenity of the surrounding countryside, the ranch-style lodge is a wonderful base for couples, friends, individuals and families who enjoy the outdoor life. Most of its guests come here for the opportunity to spot a plethora of birds and animals in their natural environment, but you may find yourself equally enchanted by the quiet beauty and idyllic atmosphere of the Iberá marshlands.

Accommodation is in simple double suites decorated in the traditional style of the local area. There is a swimming pool in which to cool off on summer afternoons, and the lodge has its own private pier as well as a dining room and bar.

Included in your stay are a variety of excursions: motorboat outings on the lake and treks guided by naturalist specialists to observe the native birds, alligators, monkeys, capybara, pampas deer, marsh deer, river otters and butterflies. Horse riding and fishing can be organised locally and there are also canoes, kayaks and bicycles for independent exploration.

What our clients say

  • “At Aguape Lodge we found two excursions each day were included in the deal. These were absolutely first class with excellent local guides. The bird and animal life seen on the excursions at Aguape was memorable.”

    CB, Stoke-On-Trent
  • "Didn't help that we arrived in 40+ heatwave-facilities only just coped with this. No English spoken which might put some people off, though we managed. All staff really friendly and helpful-did everything they could to make us as comfortable as possible. We felt the lodge misses out on contact with the local community-perhaps a visit to the village and local handicraft on sale in the lodge."

    FL, Dewsbury
  • "We enjoyed our visit to Posada Aguape (a haven of relaxation and peace) and the Ibera wetlands – the staff were all so welcoming and friendly.”

    MG, Ongar
