Paul Winrow-Giffin in our Bespoke Team share their five best moments caught on camera whilst on a trip to Brazil.

From a street in colourful, colonial Antonia to the striking table top mountains of the Serra Geral, Brazil has is all.

Each moment captured appears with a travelling memory from Paul. Follow in their footsteps and venture to southern Brazil.

The Serra Verde train from Curitiba is renowned for its beautiful views across the mountains, but what surprised me was arriving in the charming town of Morretes and visiting the beautiful nearby village of Antonina. It’s worth spending a night or two in Morretes to soak up the authentic atmosphere of these sleepy, colonial towns.

“Smile you’re in Caraiva” this village is the ultimate barefoot beach getaway. You can only access Caraiva by dugout canoe, crossing a river to reach the unspoilt village. There are no cars here, and the local taxi is a donkey and cart. The charm of this village certainly puts a smile on your face.

The beaches in Florianopolis are fantastic for surfing. I would recommend Praia Joaquina for experienced surfers, or Barra for the beginner. After an energetic morning spent surfing, treat yourself to a fantastic seafood lunch in the village of Ribeirão da Ilha, renowned for its oysters.

This is a unique destination where you can enjoy sunrise across the sea from your beachfront pousada, and watch the sunset over the river whilst enjoying some homemade pastéis and a caiprinha. My top tip is to walk along the beach to watch the sunrise at the point where the river meets the sea.

The Serra Geral mountain range isn’t well known amongst foreign visitors, and yet it offers stunning panoramic views, incredible canyons and cosy lodges to base yourself in. This photo is taken at Morro da Igreja, in São Joaquim National Park; an ideal place to go walking and watch the clouds roll in.
