Direct to Latin America

2016 was the year that put Latin America on the map. The flight map, that is. With several new direct routes from the UK to Latin America, it has never been easier to visit our favourite continent. From San José to Santiago, we thought we’d tell you about all the great places in Latin America that can be reached in just one, stress-free flight.
San José, Costa Rica
British Airways launched this direct and non-stop route from London Gatwick to Costa Rica’s capital in April 2016. Already one of Central America’s most popular countries, this new service is sure to keep it flying high. Flight duration is approximately 10 hours 50 minutes.
Lima, Peru
Another British Airways direct and non-stop flight followed just a few days later: at the beginning of May 2016 the airline launched their London Gatwick to Lima route which means you can get to South America’s gastronomy capital in just 12.5 hours.
Bogotá, Colombia
In July 2014, Colombia’s national airline, Avianca, launched a direct and non-stop route between London Heathrow and Bogotá. Since then, the country has steadily gained popularity amongst UK visitors and is definitely one of Latin America’s up-and-coming destinations. Flight time is approximately 10 hours 30 minutes.
Santiago, Chile
Recently launched, on 3rd January 2017, British Airways’ first direct and non-stop flight from London Heathrow to Santiago is also its longest long-haul service with a flight time of 14 hours 40 minutes and puts Chile firmly in the limelight as one of 2017’s must-visit destinations.
Buenos Aires, Argentina
This one has been around for a while but it’s always worth remembering that British Airways fly from London Heathrow direct to Buenos Aires with a flight time of 13 hours 30 minutes.
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
You can be in Brazil’s most famous city in approximately 11 hours 40 minutes when flying on British Airways’ direct and non-stop flight from London Heathrow to Rio de Janeiro.
São Paulo, Brazil
You can choose between LATAM and British Airways for your direct flight to São Paulo – both airlines fly from London Heathrow. Flight duration is around 11 hours 30 minutes.
Havana, Cuba
The surge in tourism to Cuba in the last few years has meant lots of UK travellers have been taking advantage of Virgin's direct and non-stop flight from London Gatwick to Havana. The flight duration is approximately 10 hours 10 minutes.
Mexico City, Mexico
AeroMexico and British Airways can get you from London Heathrow to Mexico City on a direct and non-stop flight which takes approximately 11 hours 50 minutes.
Cancún, Mexico
You can also fly direct to Cancún with British Airways from London Gatwick on a non-stop service that takes around 8.5 hours.
