explora Valle Sagrado
explora Valle Sagrado is a brand new (2016) first-class countryside resort offering an impressive menu of guided activities and ultra-relaxing accommodation.
The explora hotel group was a pioneer in the concept of accommodation being firmly linked to activities and experiences in the surrounding cultural and physical environment of South America. There is an impressive menu of guided explorations to choose from, ranging from hikes and cycling to horse-riding, river rafting and visits to markets and Inca sacred sites.
The new explora Valle Sagrado is a few kilometres from Urubamba, the principal town of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, near Cusco, and is set among corn fields. Built in sympathy with the landscape, it offers first-class creature comforts, cuisine and guided excursions.
The red-tiled, whitewashed, two-storey ranch-style buildings recall Spanish colonial haciendas of the 17th century. Inside, all is very airy and contemporary, with the oatmeal and pale grey colours of the décor of public areas and the 50 guest rooms reflecting the hues of the fields and mountains beyond. Other facilities include a spa with outdoor pool, gift shop and lecture room for presentations on the history, geography and wildlife of the region.
What our clients say
97% of our clients rated their experience with us as Excellent or Good.
Most Memorable Moment?: The train from Cusco to Puno ... Best day by far. Plenty of time to relax and hang out with the family in very comfortable surroundings, fantastic views all they way. Also loved Lake Titicaca ... Again a great day.KH,
Highlights? :The Vistadome train journey to Machu Picchu and visiting the ruins themselves.ME, Maidstone
"We saw some amazing scenery, the train was wonderful and Machu Picchu unbelievable."PS, Stanmore
"The people, mixing with the Peruvian people in the markets, talking and laughing with them."JL, Cobham
"It was the overall experience that was important and I keep finding myself recalling small details that were entrancing at the time and then got lost in the next bout of sensory overload. In the end, I'd say it was the fact that I was able to speak almost nothing but Spanish for the duration of my trip that gave and gives me the greatest pleasure. Partly this is satisfaction that I adapted my Castillian Spanish so well to Peru. More importantly, I know that I got much more out of my guided tours because my guides were able to convey subtleties in their own language that would have got lost in translation. This is one of the key pluses of the 'tailor made' model. Having mainly private tours and excursions meant that I rarely had to compromise on this, for me, key aspect of the experience."DM, Nottingham
Most memorable experience: "Impossible to pick! Machu Picchu, the floating Uros Islands, the Nazca Lines, and seeing the condors were all incredible experiences that we will never forget."KF, Reading
"The aim was always to get to Machu Pichu and we did it in style all the way. MP was everything we expected. Cusco, Sacred Valley and Machu Pichu hotel all fab as was the Hiram Bingham train ride back to Cusco."JE, London
There were so many highlights, but Machu Picchu and climbing Huana Picchu and the whole Galapagos trip are the most memorable.GJ, Richmond
Colca canyon really exceeded expectations and we hadn't been aware of this destination prior to arranging the trip.JA, Staines-upon-thames
Inca Trail: This was an incredible experience. The guide/porters were extremely helpful and knowledgeable.DH, Aylesbury
Most Memorable Moment?: Machu Picchu... does anyone traveling to Peru ever put anything else? :-)ME, Carlisle
It was all good and every location was special so cannot choose one in particular.BC, Beckenham
Highlights:- It is difficult to pick out just one experience from such a plethora of new ones. There was so much to see and absorb in Peru which was fascinating but Machu Picchu must rate very highly in our list of memorable events on the mainland as must the whole Colca Canyon experience including the drives through the Highlands to Chivay.ND, Lewes
A short note of thanks for organising our Peruvian holiday. The fast moving itinerary went exactly to plan, all the accommodation was excellent and exactly as you described....We all thoroughly enjoyed the two weeks and will recommend JLA to friends.AF, Chiswick
“The range of experiences was like an assault course on the senses. The geography, the cultural diversity, the wildlife, the colours.”RC, Ealing
Most Memorable Moment?: One day hike to Sun Gate/Macchu PicchuSF, Woking
Most memorable aspect: “, Macchu Pichu and Peru in general, especially in Cusco. We bought ourselves an open top bus ride in Cusco which was excellent value and was well worth doing. We also enjoyed an excellent 4 hour historical city tour in Lima which was a good way to learn about the city.”DP, Watford
Highlight?: Machu PicchuRN, London
Highlight?: The whole of the Ausangate trek - the best short trek we have ever done in terms of scenery and local culture with the added advantage of comfortable mountain lodges.AST, Berwick-Upon-Tweed
"Obviously Machu Pichu was a highlight but Ollaytaytambo was impressive, Chinchero was lovely and Cusco was fantastic [we're looking into buying a house there!] the Vistadome, particularly with the staff on the return journey to Cusco, who put on a fashion show, music and dancing for us, which they genuinely seemed to enjoy too, was fantastic. I'd also really recommend Huaco Pacllano in Lima - I'd never seen a site like it before."SAG, Hythe
“It is great to know that you are going to have a fantastic holiday every time you travel to Peru.JL, Cobham
Highlight?: Too many to mention but the Condors and Machu Picchu were spectacular.GB, Westerham
The Peru holiday was all very well constructed. Favourite parts were the floating islands, the nocturnal canoe trip and the trek to Macchu Picchu. Organisation was brilliant and it all hung together very well. Thanks!AMW, Letchworth
We love Peru and the people every time we go back it is a memorable experience.JL, Cobham
It was memorable because of the cultural and geographical variety so can't pick out particular part. We were in 3 different climates, in mountains, jungle and coast. Probably enjoyed the places where we had most interactions with nature i.e. Lake Titicaca and jungle.SL,
We had a private tour, which we think was the best way to do this sort of trip. Although we had only 9 days in Peru in the Cuzco area, we managed to cover an extensive amount of material in depth and the whole trip was unforgettable. The local organisation was superb - punctual, knowledgeable, reliable, etc.PS, Reading
“We enjoyed all the places we visited on our holiday in Peru, and the experience was enhanced by friendly and knowledgeable local guides. The spectacular scenery we saw will stay in our minds for quite some time.”MM, Newcastle Upon Thyne
Highlights?: Both the Inca Trail and Puerto MaldonadoCR, Morden
Highlights?: Visiting Machu Picchu and climbing the mountain. The hot springs at Colca Lodge. Seeing the condors in the Colca Canyon. Trying to walk 100yds at almost 5000m. :-)MP, London
