explora Valle Sagrado is a brand new (2016) first-class countryside resort offering an impressive menu of guided activities and ultra-relaxing accommodation.

The explora hotel group was a pioneer in the concept of accommodation being firmly linked to activities and experiences in the surrounding cultural and physical environment of South America. There is an impressive menu of guided explorations to choose from, ranging from hikes and cycling to horse-riding, river rafting and visits to markets and Inca sacred sites.

The new explora Valle Sagrado is a few kilometres from Urubamba, the principal town of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, near Cusco, and is set among corn fields. Built in sympathy with the landscape, it offers first-class creature comforts, cuisine and guided excursions.

The red-tiled, whitewashed, two-storey ranch-style buildings recall Spanish colonial haciendas of the 17th century. Inside, all is very airy and contemporary, with the oatmeal and pale grey colours of the décor of public areas and the 50 guest rooms reflecting the hues of the fields and mountains beyond. Other facilities include a spa with outdoor pool, gift shop and lecture room for presentations on the history, geography and wildlife of the region.
