Friendly and well-located hotel with stylish colonial touches in a converted historic residence.

The friendly Casa del Balam Hotel is situated just a couple of minutes’ walk from the laurel-lined main plaza. Its central position is convenient for visiting the attractions of Mérida and there are many open-air cafes in the vicinity and a charming ambience.

The hotel is in a converted historic house, with a courtyard in the middle and a modern block at the back. The decoration is classy but homely throughout, with heavy dark colonial furniture, wrought iron beds and marble-effect tiled floors adding a touch of colonial grandeur. A live pianist accompanies restaurant diners in the evening.

The 'L' shaped swimming pool has a small sun terrace with loungers and abundant foliage, affording unusual privacy for such a central location.
