Casareyna
Puebla is famous for its mole poblano sauces and Casareyna’s restaurant is a great spot to sample them.
The dynamic city of Puebla, 2 hours south of Mexico City, is becoming an essential stop on many visitors’ itineraries, thanks to its majestic colonial-style historic centre and characterful cuisine.
Casareyna is a modern revival of what was a jumble of centuries-old, unassuming Puebla houses, very different in style to the grand townhouses of the city’s centre. Preserving the original stone walls whilst fusing them with contemporary architecture, art and vibrant colours, today’s hotel is an intriguing blend of old and new, a reflection of 21st century Mexico. There are just under 50 guest rooms and suites, each simple yet spacious with cool tiled floors and minimalist yet authentically Mexican-style décor. For relaxation there are patios dotted around the property and a swimming pool. The hotel is 10 minutes’ walk from Puebla’s zócalo and the heart of downtown.
Puebla is famous within Mexico for its culinary character, and the Casareyna restaurant is widely regarded as one of the best spots in town to sample regional Poblana cuisine. Practically every dish on the extensive hotel menu is a celebration of regional and national flavours and the restaurant attracts diners from outside as well as guests.
