Nerea is ideal for a few days of simple beach living, spilling out on to the white sands of Tankah just a few paces from the aquamarine waters of the Mexican Caribbean.

There are touches of the Yucatán in the rustic yet stylish design: the delightful restaurant is in a typical thatched palapa, open to the breeze, and the bar is right behind the beach, with lovely ocean views. Guest rooms continue the regional theme, their unfussy décor lifted by natural materials and earthy tones.

Each of the 22 rooms and suites has a balcony or terrace. From the beachfront (lower) rooms you can literally step out from your terrace to a day bed on the sands, while swim-out rooms have direct access to the pool. Kayaks, bikes, paddle boards and snorkels are available for use on a complimentary basis.

Our Expert's Opinion

Tankah beach offers a quieter alternative to the main resort centre of Tulum while still being within easy reach - just 10 minutes by taxi.
