Exclusive and intimate property with a romantic, peaceful ambience and discreet, highly personal service. An excellent choice for honeymoons or anniversaries.

The exclusive, intimate boutique Le Reve is set beside a long stretch of white sandy beach, studded with boulders. Occupying an isolated spot, it is both within easy reach of and seemingly a world away from the lively resort town of Playa del Carmen.

The romantic, adults-only property prides itself on its harmonious atmosphere: enjoy the soothing sound of the gentle waves and whispering palms. Guest rooms in the main building have either a garden or sea view; there’s also lovely accommodation in thatched beach bungalows beside the shore, with private patio, plunge pool and uninterrupted ocean vistas.

Décor is minimalist and very stylish, with luxury linens and prominent use of local materials. In keeping with the peaceful ambience, there are no TVs. The informal and very well-regarded restaurant serves à la carte fare with a menu that changes daily, and is adjoined by a chic bar; you can also dine on the beach by firelight. The hotel has an idyllic infinity pool with Jacuzzi near the water's edge, a beach bar, small spa (massages, facials) and a gym with views of the ocean. Snorkels and kayaks are complimentary for guest use.

What our clients say

  • Most memorable experience? “It's impossible to pick any individual aspect; but a number of experiences stood out: the visit to the "voodoo" church at St Juan Chamula (extraordinary and unexpected), the visit to the shrine of the Madonna of Guadalupe on the way to Teotihuacan in Mexico City (similar, and helped understand Mexican history), Palenque (the most beautiful and atmospheric of the pre-hispanic sites), and swimming in the three cenotes at Cuzama near Merida, which we arranged ourselves.

  • "We feel as if we have a million magical memories that will last forever - sunsets over the Caribbean sea, ruins in the midst of the jungles, seas of pink flamingoes, crocodiles nestling on the banks of the Canyon Del Sumida. We were nervous as non Spanish speakers but we felt so supported without that horrible feeling of being over organized. Thank you again.”

    LH, Pinner
  • "All of it was great so hard to pick out one thing. We had a lovely mix of ancient sites, modern art, great museums and time to relax. The Day of the Dead celebrations were the main reason for travelling to Mexico in Oct/Nov and, thanks to our guide, they fully met our expectations."

    FA, Edinburgh
  • My sister summed it up by saying that there was nothing that she would have changed, the holiday was perfect.  Mexico was a delight, we had never been before, the people sincerely friendly and helpful, the service as great but everything exceeded expectations.  My sister and the children thought that the cenotes were amazing as they were such a surprise but we loved it all.

  • Visiting the Mayan villages outside San Christobal de las Casas.

    CM, Kingston upon thames
  • Most memorable aspect: “The view from Monte Alban across Oaxaca and the valleys around. Eating in Cafe Tacuba in Mexico City with a troop of troubadours playing would come a close second, followed by the flight to Huatulco when we flew all along the coast before landing, courtesy of a local businessman who was playing host to an American novelist. Xochimilco was also memorable and fun.
