Rewa Eco Lodge

Rewa Lodge

Remote, rustic and authentic riverside lodge near the thatch-roofed hamlet of Rewa, far from any other civilisation and surrounded by wildlife-rich jungle.

In an isolated location at the confluence of the Rewa and Rupununi rivers, surrounded by dense vegetation, the simple and welcoming Rewa Eco Lodge offers an authentically remote and unspoilt experience in the pristine forests of central Guyana. Accommodation is in traditional circular huts known as ‘benabs’, and conditions throughout the lodge are modest, rustic and close to nature.

This lodge will not suit those seeking a sanitised, air conditioned version of the jungle; however for travellers who embrace the opportunity to disconnect and immerse themselves in the splendour of nature (complete with the occasional creepy crawly!), this is a rare and special chance to enjoy an untouched environment in the warm hospitality of local people. The solar-powered lodge is run by the Macushi tribe, who practice subsistence farming, fishing and hunting, and has already made an impact in developing and encouraging sustainable tourism and conservation initiatives in the area.

While staying at the lodge, guests are invited to take part in an exciting programme of excursions which includes rainforest walks, canoe trips and visits to the beautiful nearby village of Rewa to meet its small Macushi community. Tasty, plentiful meals are also included. The area is famous for its abundance of wildlife, and while there you may spot giant river otters, black caiman and a plethora of colourful birds.
