Paradisus Rio de Oro Resort and Spa
Large, all-inclusive resort hotel on a lovely beach, offering comprehensive facilities not commonly found in Cuba outside Varadero.
The all-inclusive adults-only Paradisus Rio de Oro belongs to the Spanish Meliá chain. The hotel is perched on a low rocky cliff overlooking Playa Esmeralda, 5km from the resort of Guadalavaca with its swathes of picture postcard white sand beaches and horseshoe bays. It is set within an attractive tropical garden and linked by a wooden bridge over a large pond to two sister properties.
Rooms are smartly decorated, many with murals, colourful rugs and textiles, and are equipped with modern amenities and a veranda or terrace. There are several semi-detached bungalows with a private terrace and outdoor shower, and two large private villas with private swimming pools.
There are numerous restaurants and bars to choose from, a large open-plan lounge and nightly entertainment. Leisure facilities include two pools tennis courts, Jacuzzi, sauna, massage and an array of water sports. The main beach is lovely, with hammocks slung between palms, and there are also semi-private coves that can be accessed through the grounds.

Our Expert's Opinion
The white sand beaches, fringed by palm trees are the real draw of this hotel. It’s a great place to relax after a tour of Cuba and there is an impressive range of water sports on offer.
