Modern hotel with an unrivalled location in the heart of the city. Soak in the rooftop hot tub after a day exploring.

Epitomising the mantra of 'location, location, location', the modern Presidente hotel sits on a lively pedestrianised street right in the centre of San José, with shops, restaurants, bars, museums and interesting public buildings just steps away.

The standard rooms are bright, sparkly clean and spacious, while the spa rooms (with Jacuzzi) are even bigger. Junior and master suites, situated on higher floors with mountain views, are truly first class. All the accommodation is decorated in a contemporary style; beds are extremely comfortable.

The hotel has a good range of facilities including a small gym and Rainforest Spa. There is a hot tub on the roof where you can relax after a day exploring the, at times, chaotic city. There is also a café where an excellent buffet breakfast is served and there are plans for a bistro restaurant.

What our clients say

  • Lovely hotel in a great location

    AD, Ilkley
  • Ideal situation for central San Jose. On pedestrian route so no traffic noise. Staff friendly and helpful

    JW Crowborough
  • A good central hotel. Very helpful staff. Very happy to store our bags whilst we were away at Tortuguero and Osa.

    RB, Bristol
  • We only stayed on arrival and departure days but hotel was most adequate and well situated

    DS, Cardigan
  • Good medium range hotel in an excellent location to see all the sights of San Jose.  Rooms travel inn style but a bit of quirky character inside the lobby area and on the outside.

    KB, Lochgilphead
  • We didn't spend much time here - arriving late and leaving early - but what we saw was lovely though our room was pretty noisy - the air con made a racket so we opted for windows open and street noise instead!

Our expert's view

Hannah
Hannah Waterhouse - Travel Expert

Hannah had an early introduction to Latin America when her family moved to Ecuador and she returned to study in Buenos Aires for a year before backpacking across the continent.

This contemporary hotel has a great location in downtown Jose but at the same time manages to be a quiet and tranquil place to stay. The food served at the hotel restaurant is great and the hotel is on a pedestrianised street if you fancy popping out to one of the nearby restaurants.
