Kasiiya Papagayo Retreat
Set on a rugged stretch of forested Pacific coast, Kasiiya is a tranquil luxury retreat where well-being is the theme.
To say that Kasiiya blends into its stunning natural surroundings is an understatement. Until you arrive you'd be unaware of its presence. Nestled in a unique, protected area of dry forest, there are five luxurious, air-conditioned tented suites, each with private decking and designed to let the daylight flood in while the interior earthy shades are inspired by the surrounding natural environment. A very special feature is your open-air copper bath, where you can luxuriate to the sound of birdsong.
There are three lovely beaches accessible from the property which are perfect for swimming, snorkelling, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding: the equipment is complimentary. There are also some very good walking trails from the retreat -take a guide, or explore on your own.
The dining area’s large terrace must be one of the best spots in Costa Rica from which to watch the sun go down, cocktail in hand. Kasiiya - which means 'finding your own pace' in Swahili - embraces the concept of well-being, with a yoga deck, 'movement' classes and innovative spa treatments.

It is difficult to single out any one part as being most memorable. For me (as a geologist) the trip to Poas Volcano was great. The ziplining at Punta Islita was superb.RH, Peterborough
Highlights? Rafting out of Pacuare, seeing the turtles, kayaking in Tortuguero, zip wire trips, hiking in Pacuare and relaxing on beach in Santa Teresa.MBW, London

Highlights? Bosque Del Cabo, Rafiki and Maquenque, absolutely wonderful.ASP, Bexhill-on-sea
Most memorable experiences: Waterfall rapelling at el remanso, the internal flights on tiny planes, everything was goodSM, Knaresborough
There were so many highlights it is difficult to single one out. The wildlife, around hotel gardens etc and not just in the reserves, was particularly impressive. Viewing it from a boat at Tortuguero and Cana Nedra was particularly enjoyable. Tthe countryside is varied and beautiful so that even the transfers were a pleasure.VC, South croydon
We had a really exceptional trip. The mix of beautiful scenery and amazing wildlife made it a real adventure and yet the logistics made it achievable and stress free. Costa Rica has beaches, wildlife and lots of outdoor fun (zip lines, rafting, and ATV trails for example) which make it ideal for a holiday which met the desires of all the family.GP, Warwick
So many - sloths close up, wild monkeys eating coconuts from our hand, finding a snake in Falls resort, zipwiring in Arenal, canoeing to old Costa Rican farmhouse, night walks in Monteverde, whale and dolphin watching on my birthday in Manuel Antonio, birdwatching in Tortuguero, massive iguanas in Mawamba, walking home from dinner in a massive downpour in Manuel Antonio, watching toucans and armadillo in Monteverde.JS, Amersham
Great mix of high adrenaline and chilled activities to suit all the family.JS, London
The whole Tortuguero experience was brilliant.TK, Leighton buzzard
Highlight?: Seeing turtles laying eggs on the beach in TortugueroAD, Ilkley

Highlights: Bird watching at Tortuguero and snorkelling on the reef in Belize which was simply amazing.GW, Winchester
Costa Rica with Journey Latin America is one of the best holidays we have ever had, if not the best.MD, Southam
Highlight?: This is difficult! We loved Tortuga Lodge, Bosque de Paz and Aguila de Osa Inn. Made new friends who we will remain in contact.MG, Uckfield
Although the transfers were quite long the mix between eg driving and taking a boat were good and made us feel we really saw the country.ME
The wildlife in Costa Rica is incredible and it is everywhere you go and very immediate. Add to that beautiful scenery and very friendly people and it is a great holiday destination.MJ, Canary Wharf
Most memorable experience: "Diversity of the country. Outstanding bird life and flora and fauna.Very friendly and helpful people."RC, Lymington
We always ask each other what the highlight was, but always fail. It was really the variety. There is really so much to remember.JS, Bath
Everything felt "easy" and stress free. The most memorable aspect was driving through fantastic scenery, so much to see!AF, Cardiff
Costa Rica lived up to our expectations in every way. We all had a fantastic family holiday.EJ, London
We have many good memories and it's difficult to identify a single best experience. Each of the Lodges we stayed at impressed us by their environmental policies. Each had comfortable accommodation ranging from quite simple to quite extravagant. Importantly for us they were each located in different types of habitat so although there was some overlap in what we saw, there were sufficient differences for us to be continually interested.NW, Carnforth
The treks throughout the trip were superb. Excellent guides and the range of wildlife was stunning.WRDT, Bakewell
Highlights?: Seeing the Quetzal with Carlos; finding the MotMot on our own at La Quinta; seeing the Eyelash Pit Viper on the Hanging Bridges trip; all of the 5 days with Esteban and Alberto were brilliant (and my husband seeing the Roseate Spoonbill and Jabiru at Palo Verde - I loved the Fiery Aricaris a few feet in front of us at Rio Magnolia). In all we saw 234 species of birds.MCB, Stockport
Everything was good. An unexpected highlight was the chocolate tour to the local conservation chocolate plantation in Sarapiqui.DS, Coventry
Highlight?: Tortuguera boat trip, rafting Arenal, hot springs Arenal, zip wires Monteverde, running on the beach in Uvita - so many lovely memoriesSL, London
Most memorable experience: "The amount and variety of wildlife in Tortuguero and Cahuita (which we visited separately). I lived in San Jose from 1978-1981 and never saw so much variety, even including visits to Monteverde...Review: As I used to live in CR and planned some time visiting friends, JLA was able to combine my choice of places to visit with accommodation with my independent arrangements."JW, Crowborough
Highlights “Our overall impression was how lovely all the people were that we met, amazing wildlife and very good food. Our most memorable experience was probably kayaking at Tortuguero although we also did a very good night walk when we were staying at Arenal, and spotted loads of frogs, toads, snakes and spiders.”JP, Newtown
Highlights?: Very hard to select 1 or 2 things. However would probably say Travelling to and staying at Tortuga Lodge and the excursions into the Jungle (in 3 days we saw over 60 different birds / mammals / reptiles !!!) and also the Zip lining at Arenal - breathtaking and exhilarating - what views and what an adrenalin rush ! ! ...Costa Rica is an amazing country - small, but with so much to offer and so diverse ! The people were very friendly and welcoming and the weather was great !TW, Glasgow
Highlight: All of Osa - the guided walks in the forest, the early bird-watching trip, the food, watching spider monkeys from the beach and toucans from the balconies, the friendly owners and staff: the guided Toruguero river trip; the view of the volcano and lush bird-filled greenery from our balcony at Lost Iguana; the flight across the mountains....Both my experiences (Cuba and this one) with JLA have generally been well-organized, and have given me a real understanding of what each country has to offer, whether wildlife or history, and all staff have displayed a knowledgeable and caring attitude. Thank you. I hope I shall travel with you again.DH, London
