A sustainable boutique hotel in Medellin’s El Poblado neighbourhood.

Quinta Ladera sits on a quiet residential street in the lively neighbourhood of El Poblado and is a hotel with a strong sustainability ethos at its core. Its 20 guest rooms, decorated in a palette of muted tones, have a calming, minimalist aesthetic and feature works by Colombian artists and artisans. Some rooms offer private terraces with hammocks, while family rooms sleep up to four guests thanks to a mezzanine bed. In keeping with the hotel’s natural philosophy, there are no TVs or air conditioning.

Throughout the hotel there are multiple inviting communal areas in which to unwind after exploring Medellín. These include a comfortable lounge, a sun terrace, and a peaceful courtyard with a pond at the centre of the property. The hotel’s restaurant, Ganso & Castor, serves traditional French cuisine and is open for breakfast and lunch. Many of El Poblado’s excellent restaurants, cafés, and bars are within easy walking distance.

  • Highlights?: I cannot really think of anything that wasn't memorable. Perhaps my overriding memory is of the friendliness and helpfulness of the ordinary Colombians I encountered.

    DM, Nottingham Jan 2018
  • Colombia was superb. A wonderful variety of scenery and cultures, and people trying their hardest to live normal lives and welcome visitors very genuinely

    JK, Basingstoke Jul 2010
  • It was a superb trip, I don’t think our feedback really conveyed how much we enjoyed Colombia particularly. It really exceeded our expectations. Los Llanos was super superb.

    SM, Helensburgh Jul 2019
  • Our time in the South West (Huila and Cauca departments including the Tatacoa Desert, San Agustin, Popayan and Purace National Park) stood out. It was the most rewarding in terms…

  • it was all very good For me, Colombia stands out as No.1 (I hoped it would be, even before I set off, and it was)
