Country walk on the Camino Real

col14-country-walk-on-the-camino-real-walk-free

Follow the original cobbled Spanish road downhill to the lovely village of Guane.

Take a leisurely, mostly downhill hike along an original path laid by the Spanish to reach the charming little town of Guane, with its cobbled main street lined with whitewashed, terracotta-tiled houses. The walk affords impressive views of the surrounding hills and mountains, and there’s a small museum of archaeology in Guane housing ancient artefacts found in the local area.

The road lies just 9km from the colonial masterpiece of Barichara in Colombia’s Andean heartland.
