A hacienda-style property close to Pereira and centrally located for excursions around the Coffee Region.

This hacienda‑style property sits within a private residential estate on the outskirts of Pereira, the largest city in Colombia’s Coffee Region, just a 20‑minute drive from the airport. Set amid lush gardens filled with colourful tropical plants and birdsong, the 22 guestrooms are divided between the main house and a series of imaginative garden suites and ‘villas’. Rooms in the main house feel warm and homely, with timber or terracotta floors, ochre walls, rugs, retro furnishings, and local artwork. The garden accommodation offers greater seclusion, each with a private patio and hammock, as well as Jacuzzis and firepits.

While there’s little to do in the immediate vicinity, the hotel arranges a wide variety of experiences, from cooking classes and exotic fruit and rum tastings to visits to off‑the‑beaten‑track coffee fincas and pottery workshops. There’s also a swimming pool with sun loungers, as well as a spa. Although there are no nearby restaurants, the hotel’s own creative à la carte menu more than makes up for it.

  • Highlights?: I cannot really think of anything that wasn't memorable. Perhaps my overriding memory is of the friendliness and helpfulness of the ordinary Colombians I encountered.
