Small and welcoming guesthouse in an ideal location, with a homely ambience and sociable shared areas.

With a prime position in the historic neighbourhood of La Candelaria, the former colonial mansion which now shelters the small and welcoming Casa Platypus has been sympathetically brought up to date. Rooms adjoin by a series of wooden balconies which wind around a light-filled courtyard, and are decorated in a simple, rustic style with white walls and a preponderance of dark, antiqued wood. There's also a lovely roof terrace, lounge, breakfast room and shared kitchen, ideal for the independently-minded traveller. The friendly staff are a great source of practical information on the area.

  • "Small room and shower room but otherwise very good. There was noise from outside the room but that seems to be standard in Colombian hotels and everyone seemed to settle…
