The Nayara introduces a new level of all-inclusive style to Panama's lush jungle- covered Caribbean archipelago of Bocas del Toro.

Situated amidst the mangroves of a remote and otherwise uninhabited island, the overwater villas of Nayara Bocas del Toro offer dreamy ocean views and a back-to- nature experience without compromise on comfort. Four-poster beds, ample living space, ocean-front terraces and elegant Balinese-style décor add to the feel of a luxury tropical island escape. Private Pool villas come with their own saltwater plunge pool whilst Water Window villas have the added special design feature of a glass floor inlay for you to keep your eyes out for marine life swimming beneath your villa. Perhaps most unusual are the Treehouses - 15m above ground level with sweeping views - and built of hardwoods which were harvested from the bottom of the Panama Canal.

Boardwalks lead off to the fine-dining restaurant, pool and social areas where you may mingle with other guests. Dreamy days can be spent swimming, paddleboarding and kayaking among the mangroves, or relaxing on the island's so-called aerial beach - a wide pontoon with steps leading into the ocean. Or perhaps sign up for an open-air spa treatment on your villa terrace. Off-site snorkelling tours and excursions to beaches and other islands can be organised locally. The hotel is adults-only (16+).

  • Most Memorable Moment?: Too hard to choose one. Panama Canal Transit was a lifelong ambition.

    NA, London Mar 2017
  • Panama was far more interesting than what we thought it would be, particularly the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Bio Diversity Museum.

    CY, Heathfield Jan 2020
  • Because of my interest in shipping, the Panama Canal partial transit was fascinating.

    JB Apr 2012
  • Highlights: “Locks on the Panama canal and Panamax vessels up close.”

    MC, Fulham Nov 2012
  • "Most memorable was watching mother and baby two-toed sloths from bedroom window at Canopy Tower. Early morning on the roof of Canopy Tower listening to howler monkeys as the sun…
