Extremely stylish and contemporary boutique hotel with a rustic-chic aesthetic, inspired by the colours and textures of the desert.

Tierra Atacama was built on a former cattle corral, the adobe walls of which have been preserved and incorporated into its rustic-chic design. The hotel has a cutting edge, minimalist style which nevertheless reflects aspects of San Pedro de Atacama's cultural history. Proud of its environmental achievements, in late 2017 the hotel announced its entire reliance on solar energy.

The rooms are individually decorated and thoroughly contemporary in design, taking inspiration from desert hues and natural textures. They all have private terraces and views over the Licancabur volcano and offer a serene environment, deliberately free from the distraction of television.

The hotel restaurant uses fresh local ingredients including vegetables from its own garden. Meals are taken communally, adding to the informal, sociable atmosphere of the lounge and bar where guests can mingle in the evening. You can also relax around the swimming pool amongst the landscaped gardens or on a sunken sofa on the terrace, warmed by open fire pits.

There’s a choice of daily excursions including hikes, a day trip to the Tatio Geysers and bike rides through small local villages. On your return, you can wind down at the spa or in the Jacuzzi.

What our clients say

  • We loved the Tierra Atacama hotel. What a beautiful place! The facilities, excursions and guides were excellent.A special mention to Paula the manager and Paula who ran the excursions who were both superb Unfortunately very few of the restaurant staff spoke much English and the food was sometimes disappointing bot overall our stay was wonderful.

    AJ, Bristol
  • "Finally seeing the vista that always comes to mind when I think of South America. I got to see the snow covered volcanoes with the blue rivers and frozen scrub and vicunas running all around. Totally thrilled with that. Thank you Tierra Atacama."

    SB, Glossop
  • The hotel overall was excellent. However the food was OK.

    WD, Edinburgh
  • Smaller than Tierra Patagonia and easier to meet other people, as it is not frequented by the large groups which seem to go to Tierra Patagonia. More intimate feel to the place. Fine views out to Licancabur volcano. Excellent choice of tours: guides all excellent and very friendly. Food and drink excellent although less choice on menu than at Tierra Patagonia.
