Altiplanico Atacama
Stylish, rustic hotel of terracotta-hued adobe buildings opening up into cool, spacious interiors.
The stylish, terracotta-hued Altiplanico is located on the outskirts of San Pedro de Atacama, with views of the mountains and Licancabur volcano.
Curving adobe walls, straw roofs and simple doors and windows open up into cool, spacious interiors. All rooms are quite individual; some have roof terraces, some fireplaces outside, and all have a little terrace out the front. Etchings in the stone walls take inspiration from indigenous motifs and desert wildlife.
A cool shady area outside with an inviting pool area is a welcome luxury after a day’s sightseeing in the arid surroundings. There is also a good restaurant.
