Amazon Village Lodge
Rustic Amazonian lodge offering a taste of the jungle within easy reach of Manaus.
The rustic Amazon Village lodge is reached from Manaus via a lovely journey by motorised canoe. Accommodation is in spacious, thatched bungalows constructed from beautiful rosewood and scattered within lush rainforest. Excursions include canoe trips, nocturnal safaris and piranha fishing.
The Amazon Village is a purpose-built eco-lodge, upstream from the River Amazon on the banks of the Puraqucuara, a small tributary of black water with few mosquitoes. It isn't that far from the city, and offers a taste of the jungle as opposed to a more in-depth exploratory experience. In high water (April to August) you can swim in the clear water off the pier, and canoe trips through the flooded forest are particularly enchanting.
Rooms each have a private veranda and hammock. There's an off-grid feel here, The lodge doesn't have a generator, and the battery-powered lighting is low, creating a quiet and atmospheric feel. For many guests, the lack of WiFi will be a welcome invitation to disconnect.
The lodge has a cosy bar, spacious sun-deck and a reception lounge with comfy sofas, as well as a large al-fresco restaurant serving a substantial buffet prepared with fresh local ingredients.

Our Expert's Opinion
The lodge manages to create a remote and rustic atmosphere even though it is relatively close to Manaus. The food here is very good and the guides are among the best working in Brazil's Amazon lodges which make the excursions particularly rewarding.
