Well-loved resort set within vast well-tended grounds dotted with palm trees, restaurants, pools and excellent sports facilities.

This attractive Tivoli Eco-Resort has an excellent reputation and has long been popular with our clients. It is situated on a glorious strip of forest-backed beach close to the former fishing village of Praia do Forte, now an amiable and low key little tourist resort an hour's drive north of Salvador.

Following refurbishment it is now even better than ever. Sprawling over vast well-tended grounds, speckled with palm trees and hammocks, it has superb pools and sports facilities including tennis, volleyball, soccer and water sports. Bright and contemporary guest bedrooms are spread throughout the gardens in smart two-storey blocks.

Three restaurants offer dishes inspired by local Bahian cuisine as well as top-quality international food. While adults might indulge themselves in the blissful new Thalasso spa, children can take part in a huge programme of educational and entertainment activities and there's a kids' restaurant too.

What our clients say

  • Wow, so many it's hard to choose the most memorable aspect. Sunrise on the lake in the Pantanal was just wonderful. The exhilaration of standing at the devil's throat on the Argentinian side of Iguacu falls. Having the Brazilian Iguacu trail all to ourselves at sunset, when the park was closed but we could still stroll out of our hotel and soak up the view. Seeing wild toucans at Iguacu. Having a family of capybaras living outside our hut in the Pantanal and seeing wild macaws and howler monkeys. We had a great time on the plane from Salvador to Morro de Sao Paulo - tiny but brilliant views and very exciting. We also loved our boat trip around the islands and beaches near Paraty. We took a small sailing boat which made it extremely peaceful. The boat trip at Iguacu was also fantastic but be warned you do get completely soaked. Having a hot tub in our living room at Vila dos Orixas!

  • Highlights?: Ouro Preto and Paraty.

    CE, Barnett
  • Most memorable experience: "There are too many! looking down from Christ the Redeemer at sun set in Rio, using the local buses to get about town, sitting at an outdoor cafe on Ilha Grande and swimming in the natural pool outside of Paraty."

    ZB, London
  • Most memorable experience: "Hard to say it was all wonderful. Looking for alligators in a minute boat in the dark with eyes peering at you from out of the reeds, took a bit of beating. Also the boat whizzing around under the falls was  very special. The guides did a great job and it was great not being in a large group. I can't speak highly enough of the whole trip."

    VM, Shoreham-by-Sea
  • Highlight?: Diversity of wildlife in Brazil. The Iguacu Falls. Swimming in the Rio Negro. Seeing a Sloth. The whole journey was a trip of a lifetime.

    JW, Isle of Islay
  • Where to start? The World Cup match in Salvador, the old town of Salvador itself, swimming with wild dolphins in Praia de Pipa, watching monkeys play at breakfast, piranha fishing then feeding caimans in the Pantanal, playing football on Copacabana beach, seeing Christ the Redeemer for the first time, dancing in Rio Sanarium, all the Brazilian people we met who were so friendly. The best holiday we have ever been on.

Kathryn Rhodes
Kathryn Rhodes - Travel Expert

Kathryn backpacked across Argentina, Chile, Bolivia and Peru before joining us. She has a degree in Philosophy and French and is a keen netball player.

The bright and colourful rooms, tropical grounds, and direct access to the beach made for a wonderful Bahian beach break. Even if you don’t go in for a treatment, the spa’s hydrotherapy circuit is a must and I found the pool here to always be quiet enough to fit in a few laps before dinner – I’d recommend working up an appetite for the bountiful dishes and incredible desserts on offer!
