Bike tour of Rio de Janeiro

You might not imagine it's easy to get around sprawling, dynamic Rio by bike, but the city is becoming increasingly two-wheel friendly with the introduction of cycle lanes. We offer you the choice of two innovative guided rides, one exploring the neighbourhoods behind the iconic beaches, the other taking you further into the urban hinterland.

The first, relaxed ride passes beyond Copacabana and the Sugar-loaf mountain through some of Rio’s more affluent neighbourhoods, with stately apartments and trimmed palm-shaded parkland.  Pedal along the shores of Botafogo Bay, with its prestigious yacht club and on to Lagoa, a beautiful wildlife-studded lagoon overlooked by Rio’s towering mountains.

The second, rather more adventurous tour, will appeal to anyone who already enjoys cycling in an urban environment. You get to see some of the compelling sights around the colonial city centre including the ornate national theatre. You’ll cycle past the gaily painted Portuguese houses of Rio's liveliest nightspot zone and the Selaron steps, decorated with dazzling tiles from 200 countries. All this is close to the striking arches of the historic aqueduct and the upturned flower-pot of the brutalist Cathedral.
