Overview & Highlights
A journey for serious nature lovers. Stay at top ecolodges in both the northern and southern extremities of the bird-filled Pantanal wetlands and travel to an exclusive lodge in Amazonia famed for having the best Amazon wildlife viewing opportunities.
On this holiday with a wildlife-viewing focus we take you to three locations for a comprehensive experience of wetland and tropical rainforest. The Pantanal’s open area of marshy grasslands, rivers and lagoons leaves fauna exposed to view. According to season, you might observe regiments of alligators, and flocks of thousands of roseate spoonbills, ibis, macaws and giant storks. In contrast, Alta Floresta has undisturbed primary rainforest hosting a variety of mammals, reptiles and especially birds.
The hot, and until recently remote, interior states of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul are sparsely populated; much of the territory is carpeted with savannah grassland cut through by rivers and dotted with table-lands, swamp and tropical forest. In the grasslands, cattle ranching co-exists symbiotically with the wildlife, but much land has now been put down to soya cultivation. You will notice the difference when you travel to the pristine forests of Alta Floresta and the Cristalino Nature Reserve on the fringes of Amazonia to stay at a superb lodge staffed by specialist guides skilled in seeking our wildlife.
- Guided safari expeditions from each of the Pantanal lodges
- Daily guided explorations from the rainforest lodge in Alta Floresta

Our Expert's Opinion
We have carefully designed this holiday to include the protected and uninhabited Cristalino Reserve in Mato Grosso, which, in my opinion, is among the very best places for observing wildlife in the Brazilian Amazon. You will wake up in the Pantanal wetlands and go to bed surrounded by the Amazon jungle.
