On this holiday with a wildlife-viewing focus we take you to three locations for a comprehensive experience of wetland and tropical rainforest. The Pantanal’s open area of marshy grasslands, rivers and lagoons leaves fauna exposed to view. The hot, and until recently remote, interior states of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul are sparsely populated; much of the territory is carpeted with savannah grassland cut through by rivers and dotted with table-lands, swamp and tropical forest.  In the grasslands, cattle ranching co-exists symbiotically with the wildlife, but much land has now been put down to soya cultivation.
