A charming hotel in Bogotá’s colonial centre, with comfortable guestrooms, a spa with indoor swimming pool and wonderful views from its rooftop restaurant.

If you are keen to stay in La Candelaria, the atmospheric and elegant colonial heart of Bogotá, then charming Hotel de la Opera is probably the best choice.

One of the buildings dates back to colonial times and the other the more recent Republican era. The building houses comfortable accommodation with tiled and hardwood floors and chic furniture imported from Italy. It has a prestigious history having hosted many VIPs from the world of politics and entertainment over the years and service at the hotel remains attentive.

The high-ceilinged guestrooms are decorated in a warm and airy style inspired by the fashion for art-deco interiors in 1930s Bogotá, and make use of cedar wood and locally hewn stone. Meanwhile, the large windows and iron balconies evoke an older period of the building’s history. Please note that there are several short flights of steps, but a small lift serves the upper floors.

There are two restaurants, including one on the rooftop with wonderful views. A business centre is available for you to keep in touch with the outside world, but the hotel prides itself on its spa and health facilities, offering massages, facials and other treatments to help you relax after a day’s sightseeing. There’s a sauna, Turkish baths, Jacuzzi, small gym and swimming pool set on two levels.
