A luxury ecolodge, spa and farm in the forested hills above the Rio Grande in southern Belize.

Copal Tree Lodge and farm is a luxurious hilltop property sitting agreeably within in Belize’s now well-established tradition of high-end eco-tourism. There are just 12 stylish and spacious thatched suites with private veranda and full-length windows overlooking exuberant jungle where you’re likely to spot howler monkeys crashing through the forest. The lodge has its own working farm and exquisite gardens:  bird of paradise flowers grow alongside banana palms and plum trees.

The lodge is much more than top-notch, ultra-relaxing accommodation though – in addition to the spa, its farm produces most of the food prepared at the lodge, from organic vegetables to humanely produced meat. In addition to the kitchen garden, there’s a cacao plantation, shade-grown coffee and a large orange grove.  The property offers chocolate making classes.

Stroll down 365 steps or take the private tram to the riverside dock and explore by kayak or canoe. From the dock you can also embark on cruises on the jungle reaches of the Rio Grande, or guided snorkeling and fishing adventures on the Caribbean Sea.
