Small and secluded resort on a white-sand beach reached only by boat, with airy cabañas and treetop suites overlooking the turquoise Caribbean.

Portofino is an attractive small beach resort located on a secluded white-sand beach on Ambergris Caye and can be reached only by boat. There are beachfront cabañas and treetop suites with clear views over the turquoise Caribbean. All have polished hardwood floors and furniture sprinkled with subtle Belizean artifacts, romantic net-protected bamboo beds draped in crisp white linen and a terrace with a hammock in which to while away lazy Caribbean afternoons. Décor is bright and tropical, with an airy feel and thatched palapa-style roofs.

There is a split level restaurant specialising in seafood, as well as a bar, outdoor smoothie shack, Jacuzzi and inviting circular pool. Guests can paddle out in a kayak or snorkel around reefs awash with colourful marine life.

  • Local flights were amazing enabling us to really see and appreciate the country....The diversity of the local cultures and cuisine were a wonderful surprise and experience.

    CT, Hortley Jun 2013
  • We saw a massive variety of animals, insects and fish between the rainforest and the reef and exploring these environments with knowledgeable guides was a pleasure. Whether it was hummingbirds…
