Onçafari Jaguar Project

The Onçafari Jaguar Project is one of the first of its kind in Latin America. It's a non-profit organisation set up five years ago by Mario, a former professional racing driver who fell in love with African safaris as a young child. The aim is to promote conservation through tourism and generate far-reaching associated benefits for the Pantanal.

Currently the team are working with two orphan female jaguars to return them to the wild. They were less than two months old when they were found and unlikely to have survived had they not been rescued.

Journey Latin America is delighted to be supporting Onçafari Jaguar Project and we encourage our clients to book the Jaguar Experience at Refugio Caiman which not only offers a unique insight into the world of the elusive jaguar, but also helps fund the project.

Find out more about Onçafari Jaguar Project from our Head of Product, who visited the region recently.
